Autoři popisu uvádějí, že taxon není příbuzný s Gymn. schroederianum, takže dříve publikovaný popis Gymn. schroederianum ssp. boessii Kiesling, Marchesi & Ferrari z Kakt. und Sukk. 53 (91): 225 – 232, 2002 přiřazují k tomuto druhu jako synonym.
Příbuznost obou taxonů je však natolik zřejmá, že o ní nelze ani v nejmenším pochybovat. Blízkost nalezišť – areály Gymn. schroederianum ssp. boessii, Gymn. schroederianum typ, a Gymn. schroederianum ssp. paucicostatum se takřka dotýkají, i když mezi nimi probíhá hranice provincií, květy s dlouhou květní trubkou a i tělesná stavba napovídají velmi blízkou příbuznost a i proto je platný popis tohoto taxonu jako Gymn. schroederianum ssp. boessii – viz tam. Postup autorů popisu Gymn. erolesii lze považovat za podivný.

The authors of the description have mentioned that the taxon is not related with Gymn. schroederianum. so the formerly published description of Gymn. schroederianum ssp. boessii Kiesling, Marchesi & Ferrari in KuaS 53 (91): 225 – 232, 2002 they have rowed to this sort like the synonym.
However, the affinity of both taxons is so evident that it is not possible to doubt it in any case. The proximity of the finding places – the areas of Gymn. schroederianum ssp. boessii, Gymn. schroederianum typ and Gymn. schroederianum paucicostatum are nearly contiguous with each other even if there are the frontier of the provinces among them, the flowers with long flower tube and even the body building suggest very close relationship and even therefore the valid description of this taxon is Gymn. schroederianum ssp. boessii – see there. The course of the authors of the description of Gymn. erolesii is possible not to able to understand.
